We were actually both in relationships when we met in the early 2000s. We would meet up and hang out with friends a few times over the years.

 

It wasn't until we were both single many years later that I reached out to Rose through text to ask her if she wanted to tag along with me to my friend's birthday party.

"Don't bail on me, Rose. This is once in a lifetime stuff here" is the text Juan sent me that evening. I'm glad I decided to go. It turns out he was right.

We became inseparable friends after that. We'd go to quinceañeras, friend's camping trips, and weddings together. Other friends, even strangers, started noticing and commenting. We had some spark, y'all.

Inseparable friendship turned into inseparable love.

I knew early on Rose was the one. And I knew I wanted to grow old with Juan. We decided we'd focus on our blended family and raise our kids into adulthood before committing to marriage.

​

My youngest son turned 18 in 2023 and I started making plans to propose to Rose in Cancun. Some of our closest friends and family helped me pull off the best surprise proposal and here we are now.
